Smithtown Township’s Youth & Community Alliance Needs Resident Volunteers

Written By: KPN - Oct• 17•16

The Youth & Community Alliance of Smithtown’s quarterly general membership meeting will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Smithtown Library Main Building, 1 North Country Road in Smithtown, 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Resident volunteers are needed to serve on this Alliance.  At this meeting, residents will prioritize community problems already identified by collected data, highlight the factors that contribute to these problems and discuss possible evidence-based strategies that volunteer Alliance Committees can utilize to address these problems.    If you want to take an active role in strengthening your community and addressing local problems, then the Youth & Community Alliance of Smithtown needs you!

The Alliance encourages residents of Smithtown Township to employ all of their resources in a cooperative manner to strengthen communities, keep youth and families physically & emotionally healthy, safe and free of substance abuse.  Concerned residents, community leaders, clergy, school district representatives, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, parents, college & high school students, as well as veterans, senior citizens and social & civic groups are invited to share their experience, knowledge and concern for their fellow residents.

Alliance members will not only help to strengthen all communities within Smithtown Township, but have opportunity for networking, leadership roles, meaningful use of free time, quality references for college/employment, as well as, professional and personal mentorship.

Please RSVP by October 28, 2016 – (631) 360-7578 or email Kelly DeVito (Horizons Counseling & Education Center) kdevito@tosgov.com or Stacey Sanders (Smithtown Youth Bureau) ssanders@tosgov.com.
