  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • baking spray with flour

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Admittedly, the above picture isn't the best and doesn't do the doughnuts justice. They came out looking and tasting great. The doughnut pan isn’t expensive, I picked mine up at Target. My boys, including my husband, loved them. Next time I will be more creative with the topping – maybe dipping one side in melted chocolate and then colorful sprinkles. This is a really easy recipe and the doughnuts are really tasty.

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Spray 2 doughnut pans well.
Step 2
Into large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In small bowl whisk together egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir wet mixture into the dry until just combined. Don't over mix.
Step 3
Spoon batter into baking pans filling each about half full. Bake for 17 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and tap out onto sheet pan.
Step 4
To top, melt 8 tablespoons butter in an 8 inch saute pan. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Dip each doughnut first in butter then in cinnamon sugar, either on one or both sides.
