Chocolate Yogurt Cake

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup plain, whole milk yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 7oz semi-sweet chocolate (coarsely chopped)


This is a delicious chocolate cake that is perfect with coffee, friends, and a large kitchen table.


Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 5x5 square baking pan.

In a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt chocolate with 1/4 cup of oil.

In a separate large bowl, mix remaining 1/4 cup oil, yogurt, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.

In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 5
Slowly pour flour mixture into yogurt mixture and combine.

Add melted chocolate, mix until smooth.
Step 7
Pour into prepared pan.

Cook for 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and cut into squares.
